Coursework from Wichita State University
Wichita State's Master of Arts in Arts Leadership and Management is a business and career-focused program for employment, or advancement, in arts executive positions. Students advance their knowledge in two areas: arts leadership and arts management. The program is completed entirely online. I am projected to graduate in the spring of 2023.
This is the first paper I wrote for the program in a class titled Contemporary Issues in American Arts Programs. Here I discuss the difference between technical issues and adaptive challenges and what struggles we are facing today as arts organizations in a changing world.
|
In my final paper for Contemporary Issues in American Arts Programs, I discuss the downfalls of America's arts education program and work through possible solutions.
|
In my second class of the Fall 2021 semester, we discussed Shaping Arts in the 21st Century. For this assignment we were given a prospectus and were asked to write a mock grant. This assignment is a work of fiction, although I did pull inspiration from real life local organizations and acquaintances.
|
For my final paper for Shaping Arts in the 21st Century, I researched the history behind concert/theatre etiquette, what audiences today are looking for, and what we can do to bring in younger audiences and reverse the stigma of concert/theatre etiquette. This was a fascinating topic and I am interested in continuing to research it.

Reaching New Audiences - 21st Century Arts Marketing (spring 2022) This course was designed as a study of current trends in digital marketing, social media outreach, and non traditional audience outreach. Students will work with faculty, and arts professionals to understand how to build audiences, and expand outreach opportunities beyond traditional markets.
|
The capstone project for 21st Century Arts Marketing involved a fictional scenario for a real organization. We were asked to research the online presence of a real organization and offer suggestions based on the lessons from the course.

Digital Marketing
This course provided students with a strategic overview of the digital environment and the role of digital within the overall marketing strategy of an organization. For an assignment on buyer personas, I chose to expand upon a project idea from last semester’s Managing Arts Organization about a fictitious cultural arts organization called the Pinecone Center. My final project for the course included creating a simulated digital marketing campaign for an organization real or created for the class. As of now, my plan is to complete my capstone project with the New England School of the Arts, a new school opening in Lebanon NH this fall. This assignment included Content Pillars, a Content Calendar, and a thorough Marketing Proposal.
