Student Teaching Lesson Plans
This lesson, entitled "Why We Sing - Finding Emotional Connection in Music", was created in response to the difficulty I found trying to get high school singers to connect to the music they performed. I attempted to come at this lesson from all angles by using various sources to answer "why we sing". I used anonymous answers found online, responses from friends, my own personal poem, I joined an emotional piece with equally emotional photos, and asked for the students' very own responses, which I then turned into a collage. Below are links to the videos taken during the lesson, my lesson plan, PowerPoint presentation used, and the students' responses.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Article: 45 Most Powerful Images of 2011
This was a double lesson, using a PowerPoint presentation, on how to introduce Native American music and culture; for Secondary Music Methods (Fall 2010). This lesson has been modified multiple times to fit the needs of a summer camp ages 6-12 as well as a 4 week unit for 4th grade.
